Dear colleagues from the world of communication,
Since 2019 the IALP has been named International Association of
Communication Sciences and Disorders.
Historically, however, since 1924 that is almost 100 years ago, it was
called the International Association of Logopedics and Phoniatrics.
In the announced webinar (please read attached flyer for further
information), we would like to re-acquaint you with the term phoniatrics, as
it may not be familiar to some outside Central Europe.
Today, phoniatrics has gained visibility because its fields of activity
touch the work of non-medical professionals such as speech-therapists,
logopedes, musicians, as well as physicians in intensive care, neurology,
paediatrics audiology and ENT.
The lectures explain the status of phoniatrics in many countries, especially
in Europe, the cradle of which was in 1905 at the Charité in Berlin. Since
then, the idea of a medical speciality dealing with communication has spread
beyond the borders of Europe to the Arab and Latin Worlds.
We invite you to participate in an overview of Phoniatrics during the
webinar titled "Phoniatrics: to communicate or not".
We are confident that you will take the opportunity to communicate with us
and each other and learn more about phonaitrics.

Chief Executive Officer, IALP
